Apple intends to produce batteries for Apple Car in the US

According to DigiTimes, Apple intends to manufacture batteries for its self-driving cars in the United States, rather than sourcing from suppliers in other countries.

At the same time, Apple plans to work with Taiwanese manufacturers, and not with Chinese. According to DigiTimes, Foxconn or Advanced Lithium Electrochemistry (Aleees), which are planning to open factories in the US, have a good chance of working with Apple on car batteries. Foxconn is a long-time Apple partner, so it seems possible that the two companies work together.

Apple previously planned to partner with two of China’s largest battery suppliers, CATL and BYD, but ultimately decided to use US-made batteries for Apple Car. None of the companies mentioned in the post have commented on the situation.

Most of Apple’s products are assembled in China, but many of the components are sourced from around the world. With Apple Car, which may still be several years away, Apple could take a similar approach.
