Apple introduced the Mac Studio computer: a miniature but very powerful box

As part of the spring presentation, Apple announced the flagship computer, which is a new model in the Mac line. Inside, the M1 Max processor or the top-end M1 Ultra processor presented at the same event can be installed. Thanks to its low height, Mac Studio will fit under most monitors, and thanks to the cooling system, it will be quiet even under load.

At the back are 4 Thunderbolt ports, a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port, 2 USB ports, HDMI for connecting monitors and an audio jack. The novelty supports next-generation wireless networks – Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5. Front 2 USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 support (on versions with M1 Ultra) and an SD card slot. Up to four Pro Display XDRs can be connected to Mac Studio.

Mac Studio with M1 Max processor is 50 percent faster than Mac Pro with 16-core Intel Xeon and 2.5 times faster than iMac with 10-core Intel Core i9, according to Apple. As for the configuration with the M1 Ultra, it is 3.8 times faster than the iMac, and the Mac Pro is 60 percent faster.

The new M1 Ultra processor also featured in this presentation supports up to 128GB of RAM. This chip contains a 20-core CPU and a 64-core GPU. It is created on a 5-nanometer process technology, and the memory bandwidth reaches 800 GB / s. It’s almost 8 times faster than the regular M1, according to Apple.

Mac Studios with the M1 Max start at $2,000, while models with the M1 Ultra inside will cost at least $4,000.
