Tonight, Russians began to massively notice that well-known payment services, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay, stopped working in Russia.
The Central Bank previously reported that these services would be unavailable to Visa and MasterCard cardholders. In addition, Mastercard and Visa payment cards issued by Russian banks stopped working abroad and in online stores.

Apple announced on March 2 that its Apple Pay payment service would stop working in Russia. Now all iOS users receive the message “Apple Pay is not yet available in this region” when they try to link their card to the service.
A similar story with Google Pay and Samsung Pay services. Now Russian Mastercard and Visa cards will work only on the territory of the Russian Federation. An alternative for them was the domestic payment service Mir Pay.
