Apple today began rolling out iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4, the fourth major update to the iOS and iPadOS 15 operating systems, released in September 2021. iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 are coming out one month after the release of iOS 15.3.1 and iPadOS 15.3.1.
iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 updates are free to download, and the software is available on all eligible devices wirelessly. To access new software, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

iOS 15.4 adds the ability to use Face ID to recognize users while wearing a mask. At the same time, the smartphone scans the areas around the eyes for authentication. iPadOS 15.4 introduces Universal Control, allowing you to control multiple Macs and iPads with a single mouse/trackpad and keyboard.
The updates also add 37 new emoji and lay the groundwork for a new “Push to Pay on iPhone” feature that allows NFC-enabled iPhones to accept payments via Apple Pay. There are also updates to add custom domains to iCloud Mail right on the device, Siri improvements, new Emergency SOS features, and more.
