Apple released macOS Big Sur 11.6, the sixth major update to macOS Big Sur, which launched in November 2020. MacOS Big Sur 11.6 comes out a month after macOS Big Sur 11.5.2 was released.
MacOS Big Sur 11.6 Update can be downloaded on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Preferences. MacOS Big Sur 11.6 improves the security of macOS and is recommended for all users, according to the release notes. Apple also released security update 2021-005 for macOS Catalina. Both updates fix an issue that could allow a maliciously crafted PDF to execute code. Apple says this bug may have been actively exploited.
As we reported earlier, Apple also released iOS 14.8 yesterday, which was the eighth major update to iOS 14. iOS 14.8 could be one of the latest updates to iOS 14 as iOS 15 is due out tonight and will be out soon. Apple said it plans to let people continue to use iOS 14 unless they plan to upgrade to iOS 15. For this reason, iOS 14 may receive minor security updates over time, but new features are likely to remain for iOS 15.
Apple also released watchOS 7.6.2 with similar security fixes for Apple Watch Series 3 and later.
When and where to watch today’s iPhone 13 launch.
