Apple is currently the fifth largest computer company in India. In addition, the company also saw significant growth in iPhone and iPad sales.
According to DigiTimes, the Cupertino-based company fell just 2,000 units short of fourth place in the Indian PC market in the first quarter. The total number of Apple desktops, laptops, tablets, workstations shipped is 208,000 units.
Data from research firm IDC also shows that shipments of Apple computers in India grew by 335.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2021. The company is now also the second largest tablet supplier in India with a market share of 29%, with most of its sales coming from iPad 8 sales.

This can be largely attributed to Apple’s Indian online store, which launched in September 2020. The store offers a full range of devices, accessories and technical support. The online store also offers special student prices, various funding and exchange options, and free contactless shipping.
Back in January, Apple CEO Tim Cook said at a press conference that the Indian online store has generated “huge” interest since its inception. Cook said the store doubled the share of Apple smartphones in India to 4% in the fourth quarter of 2020. The Apple CEO also shared the company’s plans to launch conventional retail stores in the country.
