The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has announced the start of an antitrust investigation against Apple. The 30% commission in the AppStore is outraging many developers, to which the UK authorities reacted.
In mid-February, Epic Games filed a formal antitrust complaint against Apple with the European Commission, alleging that the Cupertino giant is dishonestly using its iOS ecosystem to levy a 30 percent tax on App Store purchases.
The antitrust investigation will assess whether Apple has a dominant position in the distribution of apps for iOS devices in the UK. In addition, the UK Competition and Markets Authority will examine whether Apple is imposing unfair or anti-competitive conditions on developers using the App Store.
We look forward to working with the UK Competition and Markets Authority to explain how our privacy, security and content policies make the App Store a trusted marketplace for consumers and developers.

Spotify filed a complaint with the EU antitrust regulator two years ago, claiming that Apple had unfairly treated its competitors and aimed to promote its own music streaming service.
