Apple Vision Pro: virtual reality glasses hit the market in the USA

The Apple Vision Pro hits the market for consumers in the United States this Friday (2). The North American technology company's virtual and augmented reality glasses have been on pre-sale in the country since January 19th.

Pre-purchased devices begin shipping to consumers this Friday from Apple.

The company's promise is that the glasses will transform “the way people work, collaborate, connect, relive memories and enjoy entertainment”.

“Apple Vision Pro is the most advanced consumer electronics device ever created. Its revolutionary, magical user interface will redefine the way we connect, create and explore,” said Tim Cook, Apple CEO.

The operating system will be visionOS, which is based on iOS. The novelty is that it offers a three-dimensional interface and can be fully controlled by the user's eyes, hands and voice.

“Intuitive gestures let users interact with apps simply by looking at them, tapping with their fingers to select, flicking their wrist to scroll, or using an on-screen keyboard or dictation to type,” Apple said in a press release.

In the United States, the device costs US$3,499 (about R$17,000) and is sold in Apple's physical and virtual stores. There is no confirmed date for the launch of the product in Brazil.

Apple has entered into a partnership with the manufacturer Zeiss and will charge an additional amount of up to US$149 (around R$750) for magnetic lenses that can be attached to the device by those who wear prescription glasses.
