Apple today announced the launch of a self-repair program for iPhone owners in the US. As part of this program, users can buy spare parts and tools on the official website of the program.
But Apple also offers another option. If you don’t want to buy tools just to fix your iPhone once, the company provides a weekly rental kit for $49. The kit turned out to be impressive, it includes all the tools that you might need to repair models of the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 line and the third generation iPhone SE.
On the program’s website, Apple says the full set of tools comes in one or two wheeled cases, one weighing 19.5kg and the other 16.3kg. The cases stacked one on top of the other have dimensions of 50.8 cm x 119.3 cm.
As Apple explains, toolkits are specific to each device model. For example, for repairing an iPhone 13 or iPhone 12, the user will receive both of these suitcases, while the iPhone SE will receive only one. The list of tools in the sets is quite extensive.
