Samsung and Vivo increased shipments of 5G smartphones the most in the first quarter of 2021, according to a new study by Strategy Analytics. In the case of Samsung, growth compared to the previous quarter was 79%, in the case of Vivo – 62%.
For comparison: Apple, the leader in the number of units shipped, reduced shipments from 52.2 to 40.4 million units, that is, by 23%.
Oppo 5G smartphones shipped 21.5 million units in the first quarter of 2021, up 55% from the previous quarter.
Xiaomi, which closes the top five, shipped 16.6 million devices in three months from January to March. This is 41% more than in the previous quarter.
At the end of the quarter, Apple’s share decreased from 40.7% to 29.8%, Oppo’s share increased from 10.9% to 15.8%, Vivo’s share increased from 9.4% to 14.3%, Samsung’s share – from 7 , 4% to 12.5%. The share of Xiaomi increased from 9.2% to 12.2%.
In total, 135.7 million 5G smartphones were shipped for the quarter – a 6% increase over the fourth quarter of last year.
