Paris is becoming a center of demonstrations coordinated via the Internet. The goal is restrictions due to a pandemic but also an increase in the cost of living.
They are coming! They arrive … today at the gates of Paris, the first from the “Convoy of Freedom – but French”, without truckers for the time being, but with all kinds of cars.
The idea was born to support the Canadian strikers, it was coordinated via the internet and as with the “yellow vests”, appointments were made in the central cities in all parts of the country. Eventually 13 routes were formed, all ending in Paris.
The farthest, such as southwest of the city of Perpignan, started on Wednesday, the nearest, such as northwest of Brest, are expected to arrive today. The goal is, after Paris, to move on to Brussels.
Demonstrations not only against vaccinations
At the beginning they spoke against vaccination, the negatives of the health restrictions were added, in order to pass like the “yellow vests” in the increase of the cost of living, the protection of their fundamental rights and freedom.
Two months before the presidential election, and while President Macron has not yet announced his candidacy, the government is concerned. Thus, it banned with strict fines any demonstration inside the capital from today until Monday, mobilized 7,200 police and gendarmes, while Belgium announced a control at the borders of Brussels.
Offenders driving cars or motorcycles in France can be punished with two years in prison, fines of up to 4,500 euros, confiscation of the vehicle and up to three years of suspension of driving license.
Motorists in France have never before faced such penalties. Even pedestrians who will try to protest in Paris this weekend risk a fine of 130 euros for participating in a banned demonstration.
