A bill to commence the process of withdrawing Hungary by the International Criminal Court (ICT) was approved today by the country’s parliament. The process is expected to last one year, with the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban claiming that the court has become “political”. The Orban government had announced the move on April 3, shortly after the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Hungary for an official visit, on a rare trip abroad despite the ICC warrant for his arrest. The presidency of the assembly of the Member States of the ICC expressed concern about traffic. The International Criminal Court was founded more than two decades ago to prosecute those accused of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
