AppStore exposes fake Trezor app

Trezor crypto wallet users sounded the alarm. When entering a request related to Trezor in the AppStore, the marketplace will first of all point to a fake application called “Trezor Wallet Suite”.

According to a Twitter user, once installed, the app prompts you to enter a seed phrase. The creators then get the opportunity to steal the victim’s cryptocurrency.

The malicious app has been in the AppStore for several weeks now. According to the blogger, the total number of victims is unknown, but it could exceed a thousand.

The user also mercilessly criticizes Apple itself:

“How can apps developed by honest people get rejected in the AppStore while this crap passes all the checks? For what [Apple] takes a 30 percent commission?

The blogger hints at Apple’s controversial tactics. Last week, they stopped two bitcoin apps from implementing the update because they introduced Lightning payments.

The alleged malware is not the only vulnerability in Trezor. The hardware wallet also has a security hole, experts from Unciphered report. This makes it easy for hackers to break into the device.

However, the recent controversy surrounding the Ledger competitor has seen Trezor’s popularity and sales skyrocket by 900%.
