Blockchain company Aptos Labs has awarded a $50,000 grant to Professor Lorenzo Alvis of Cornell University to recruit students to work on the concept of an improved blockchain.
Lorenzo Alvis teaches computer science and conducts research in distributed computing and game theory. Aptos Labs CTO and co-founder Avery Ching said:
“Professor Alvis’ students are exploring new blockchain systems as well as developing real scalable blockchain use cases and applications that will benefit the industry in the future.”
The grant will fund student research on blockchain performance scaling using a client-centric architecture. The Alvis team will develop the concept of a fault-tolerant, secure and decentralized network. Ultimately, the system will have to work even if some of its nodes fail or are attacked.
They also need to figure out how to adapt existing blockchain applications to their architecture so they can take advantage of it, Alvis said.
Recall that Aptos Labs launched its blockchain in October last year. Since then, the developers have been testing the network, so it is still not available to users.
