No believer can be excluded from anyone vaccination, including coronavirus vaccination, for religious reasons. This message was addressed yesterday by the Holy Provincial Synod of the Archdiocese of America, according to its official announcement and its post Archbishop Of America Hopeful on social media.
As the Archbishop of America pointed out, any letter or certificate of exemption from the coronavirus vaccination, issued by any clergyman of the Archdiocese of America, is considered invalid, while such an act is prohibited explicitly and unequivocally.
In fact, the Holy Provincial Synod decided unanimously that the Orthodox Church not only allows vaccination against diseases – polio, smallpox, etc. – but also urges its faithful after medical examination and approval to be vaccinated with the approved vaccines against coronavirus.
In addition, it urges the faithful to trust the competent medical authorities and not to be seduced by persons who spread false and scientifically unfounded, conspiracy theories widely circulated on social media.
