All those who have completed their vaccination will be able to come to the Greek Orthodox churches in New York without a mask, by decision of the Archbishop of America Hopeful.
This withdrawal, which also concerns the observance of the measures of social distancing from the faithful, comes after the relevant announcement of the governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, following the instructions of the Centers for Disease Control and the White House that those fully vaccinated against COVID19 Citizens are no longer required to wear masks in most cases.
The withdrawal is a clear indication that the completion of the vaccination program is the key to overcoming the pandemic and returning to normalcy for all, the Archdiocese of America said in a statement.
The Archdiocese of America urges all believers to pay close attention to anyone who has not yet been vaccinated, including those with underlying diseases and children under 12 years of age. At the same time, it urges all parishes to continue to follow the instructions of state and local health authorities on public health issues.
