Archbishop of Cyprus: Wait for me to die to get a promotion, aren’t you ashamed?

He spoke openly about his battle with cancer Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos asking if those who are waiting to die are ashamed to get a promotion. Responding to whether he is considering retiring, he pointed out that he has asked the Metropolitan of Paphos if he realizes that “he has lost his mind”, to tell him to resign.

Referring to the Archbishopric elections, the Archbishop of Cyprus left tips for clergy, saying characteristically, “you have a sick brother and you are waiting for him to die to get a promotion, aren’t you ashamed of what you are doing?». “They come and tell me that they started the election campaign, this is not wise on their part. “This happened three years ago, as soon as I had bowel surgery,” he added.

“I am in the position that I say let the cancer do its job and I do mine,” said Archbishop Chrysostomos, speaking on state television about his state of health as broadcast by sigmalive.com.

Referring to his battle with cancer over the past three years, The Archbishop stated that he is in his office every day and tries to overcome the problems, while in contact with the doctors who are watching him.

“I have in mind that after I was born, the most certain thing is that I will die. I have been acquainted with death since I was young, as my father left at a young age, I lost a little brother when he was 3 years old and I lived close to deaths when I was a clergyman. I have always been a philosopher of death “he said and added that God gave him many years and he is happy as he allowed him to make the cuts he wanted in the Church, while he also helped him in the construction of the Temple.

“I hope God does not allow me to get to this point,” he said, explaining that he had asked the Metropolitan of Paphos if he realized he had “lost his mind” to tell him to announce his resignation.

At the same time, Archbishop Chrysostomos, as riknews reported, said that today (Monday 13/9) he will give instructions so that the chief secretary of the Archdiocese can contact the priests who call on the faithful not to be vaccinated and not to observe the health protocols.

“They will be called to apologize and declare that they will not repeat such behaviors,” he noted.
