Archie turns 3, away from Buckingham Palace

Today is a special day for the prince Harry And Meghan Markle. The firstborn Archie blows out three candles. The little boy, born in London on May 6, 2019, celebrates his birthday in California, away from the royal family, with his parents and little sister Lilibeth Diana. In three years we have only seen him on 14 occasions: for example in the official photos after birth or during the royal tour with mum and dad in South Africa (see gallery under). However, through the words of the parents we learned a lot about him, his tastes and his personality.

Archie, whom mom Meghan calls fondly Bubba, he’s a beautiful red-haired boy, just like dad. When he turned one we saw him with his mother in a video made by his father in support of Save The Children. The little one was taken up in Meghan’s arms who was reading him a book, Duck Rabbit, while in the background Harry could be heard laughing.

A month after blowing out candle number one, Archie spoke his first words, including “mom”, “dad”, “book” and “dog”. But not only. In the documentary series The Me You Can’t SeeHarry said he got himself moved when the child, pointing to a photo of lady Dianahas said the word «grandmother“. Meghan and her husband told other details about her son after the 2020 coronavirus lockdown, in an interview with Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai: “We were there for his first steps, for his first run, for his first fall, everything», Markle said reflecting on the toughest months of 2020, difficult but also capable of giving good family moments. “We are lucky to have this time to see him grow. Without Covid-19 we would have traveled and worked more outside and we would have missed many of those moments ». Harry also seemed enthusiastic about his role as father: “These are special moments.” Not by chance The Bench, Markle’s first children’s story, is inspired by the relationship between her eldest son and dad Harry. And the prince in February 2021, when Archie was not yet two years old, interviewed by James Corden during The Late Late Show he showed all his pride as a father: “Archie has an extraordinary personality, he’s hilarious and already sings songs“. On that occasion Harry also revealed the little boy’s food tastes: «He loves i Wafflein the morning he wakes up and begins to ask them. So my grandmother – the Queen Elizabeth – for Christmas he sent us the machine to make them ». A truly appreciated gift in the Sussex house: «Now Meghan every day at breakfast makes excellent organic waffles, Archie is very happy“.

The last time we saw the little one was last November, when the Markle in Ellen De Generes’ living room showed a shot of the son (portrait from behind) feeding the chickens. In the garden of the family home in Montecito, Santa Barbara, the Sussexes have a chicken coop and apparently Archie enjoys being a farmer. More can play with two dogs, a beagle named Guy and a black Labrador named Pula. But above all, as dad Harry revealed during the Invictus Game last April in Holland, he is delighted with the company of his little sister Lilibeth Dianawho begins to take his first steps and tries to follow his older brother everywhere.

Archie has just turned three, but he already has some ideas about his future: “When I ask my son what he wants to be when he grows up, some days the astronaut answers me, others the helicopter pilotHarry said in the opening speech of the Invictus Game. “I remind him that no matter what he wants to be when he grows up, what really matters is his character.”
