Willingness to travel from plane? The end-of-the-year festivities, as usual, significantly increase the demand for travel and the movement of passengers at airports in Brazil and around the world increases significantly.
However, we must remember that we are still experiencing the pandemic of Covid-19 and the risk of contamination persists, especially in places where there is greater movement of people.
Those who decide to travel during this period of high season, to domestic or international destinations, need to prepare in advance so as not to have any setbacks that prevent boarding.
“The more the passenger prepares before the trip, the better. Many people will travel to visit family and friends they haven’t seen in a long time and we must beware of the coronavirus. We also know that at this time of year airports are full, there is a rainy season and more traffic. Passengers who travel by plane only once a year do not always remember all this and now we have issues related to the pandemic”, said Elisa Pereira, airport manager at LATAM Brasil.
Check out the following recommendations for travelers on domestic and international flights not having problems when traveling by air:
Documents
To board domestic flights, passengers can present a series of documents with photo as long as they are valid and contain data compatible with the boarding pass.
Documents accepted on domestic flights are: Identity Card (RG), National Driver’s License (physical model with photo) or CNH-e (National Electronic Driver’s License), Work Card, DNI (National Digital Identity Document) , Electronic Voter Registration (with civil or social name) and original and valid passport.
If one of these documents has been stolen, stolen or misplaced, the traveler can board when presenting the police report with the validity period in effect.
On international flights, the passenger must present the Passport (depending on the destination, the document must be valid for at least six months). When traveling to Mercosur member countries, the original RG and Civil Identity Registry (RIC) are also accepted.
Before purchasing a ticket, it is important to consult the consulate of the destination nation to find out about the entry or transit visa (in case of flights with stops in countries that require a transit visa), as the rules vary from country to country. parents.
Proof of vaccination, Covid-19 and quarantine tests
Depending on the destination, Brazilian or foreign travelers traveling abroad from Brazil must present printed or electronic proof of vaccination with immunization agents approved by ANVISA, WHO or the health authority of the recipient country.
Another requirement, which also varies from country to country, is the presentation of a Covid-19 antigen test, carried out within 24 hours before shipment, or a laboratory RT-PCR, processed no later than 72 hours before shipment, with a result negative or undetectable.
When disembarking abroad, travelers, if required, must again present proof of vaccination, Covid-19 test results and, in some cases, health forms (available on consulate websites) to the local authorities. Some countries accept the Covid-19 National Vaccination Certificate as proof of vaccination. There are also nations that require quarantine periods for travelers arriving in their territories.
Returning to Brazil also requires attention from passengers. Before boarding the return flight, travelers must present the antigen test (performed up to 24 hours in advance) or the RT-PCR (up to 72 hours in advance), with a negative or non-detectable result. Another requirement is the presentation of proof (printed or electronic) of filling out the Traveler’s Health Declaration Form (DNS), available on the Anvisa website (at the link – https://formulario.anvisa.gov.br/).
More expensive
At the current moment of the pandemic, taking into account the scenario in Brazil and the world, as well as the emergence of variants of the coronavirus, Brazilian airlines request that passengers use certain models of masks.
In general, national airlines only allow passengers to board with disposable surgical masks, models FPP2 and N95 (both without valves) and fabric masks with at least two layers.
“It is important that passengers pay attention to the models of masks allowed on board and remain with them throughout the trip. The mandatory nature of this protective equipment is a matter of collective safety, more than an individual decision”, said physician Mário Martins, medical manager of Gol, to CNN.
health protocols
Passengers must avoid crowding, respect the distance in airport lines and follow all sanitary protocols, including hand sanitizing with 70% alcohol gel or soap and water. On domestic flights, passengers can carry up to 500 ml of liquid alcohol or 500 g of gel alcohol in their hand luggage. On international trips, the quantity cannot exceed 100ml.
“Extraordinary measures were taken in favor of the company’s customers and employees, starting with the airports, such as distancing queues, incorporating acrylic protections at check-in and using stickers to mark the minimum distance during the boarding process and also the on board, in addition to closing the VIP lounge at airports,” said Gol.
At airports, the use of masks is mandatory for everyone, except children under the age of 2 and people with special needs or cognitive disabilities, who are guided on a case-by-case basis.
During the flight, passengers are allowed to remove their protective masks momentarily to drink water or eat food.
Upon disembarking, remain in your seat until it is time to get up and leave the plane. Companies are organizing the departure of passengers in rows, starting with the front seats, and moving towards the back of the aircraft. This measure eliminates agglomeration in the aircraft aisle.
Arrive at the airport early
In the case of international travel, Latam recommends that passengers present themselves at the airport four hours before the flight schedule. On domestic trips, the company asks passengers to arrive at least two hours in advance.
To avoid queues, Latam’s manager recommends travelers to check-in online directly on the company’s website or app. “When the passenger performs this process in advance, he is able to access the airport’s departure area earlier, streamlining everyone’s travel and avoiding setbacks in cases of eventual airport gate changes, for example.”
“Getting to the airport four hours early may seem like a long time, but it’s not. On international flights, there is a whole process of check-in, baggage handling, checking documents and undergoing an x-ray. Not only that, if the traveler has any pending issues, he can use that time to resolve the issue. For the return trip, we also recommend that passengers arrive at the airport four hours in advance”, added Elisa Pereira.
Recommendations for the unvaccinated
While the “Vaccine Passport”, travelers who do not have proof of vaccination, whose application of the last dose or single dose has occurred at least 14 days before the date of departure, may enter Brazilian territory, provided they agree to carry out a five-day quarantine in the city of their final destination and the address registered in the DNS. At the end of the quarantine, an antigen test or RT-PCR will be mandatory and, in case of a negative result, the isolation period will end.
The presentation of proof of vaccination is not required for travelers considered ineligible for vaccination, according to criteria established by the Ministry of Health.
“For domestic flights, the presentation of the Vaccination Card or the RT-PCR test is not required. However, passengers who are not vaccinated, as well as those who are vaccinated, must wear a mask throughout the flight. However, we know that in some cities proof of vaccination is required for visiting tourist spots”, concluded the airport manager at Latam.
