Argentina confirms first case of monkeypox

Argentina confirmed, this Friday (27), the first case of monkeypox in the country. According to the Argentine Ministry of Health, the results of molecular diagnostic tests (RT PCR) of the sample collected from the first suspected case confirmed the disease.

With confirmation, the case is the first recorded in Latin America . To date, cases have been identified in 21 countries, including Spain, Italy, Portugal, United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, United States, Canada, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Israel, Denmark, Slovenia, Czech Republic. , United Arab Emirates and Finland.

According to the ministry, the result is consistent with the observation made by other microscopy tests that detected monkeypox viral particles.

According to the statement, the patient is in good health and is receiving treatment to relieve symptoms. In addition, close contacts are under clinical and epidemiological control without showing symptoms so far.
