Argentina expects to recover 50% of Brazilian tourists lost in the pandemic by December

The Argentine government’s National Institute for Tourism Promotion estimates that it will recover 50% of Brazilian tourists lost by the pandemic by December this year.

In the first half of 2022, more than 300,000 visited the neighboring country, a recovery of 41% to date. The agency evaluates the numbers as positive, since Brazilians are the main visitors to the country.

The destination has gained the preference of Brazilians because of the attractive exchange rate. At the current exchange rate, R$1 is equivalent to $26.5 (Argentine pesos).

In addition to the exchange rate, the president of the Brazilian Association of Tour Operators (Braztoa), Roberto Haro, points out that the sale of trips to Argentina has risen due to winter tourism.

“The search for trips to Argentina increased in the second quarter, mainly due to winter tourism and favorable exchange rates. The destination has always stood out among operators’ sales and, with the opening of borders and control of the pandemic, the pent-up demand began to consolidate and may grow even more, as we have greater availability of flights, which is still below pre-previous levels. -pandemic”, says Haro.

In Brazil, travel agencies register an increase in demand for the destination. According to the Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies (ABAV), Argentina was the third most sought-after international destination in the second quarter of this year.

The entity also ranked the country as the fourth best seller.

The online travel sales platform Decolar saw a 170% increase in demand for packages, tickets and hotels in Argentina in the first half of the year compared to 2021.

The search engine Kayak had more than 1,927% growth in demand for tickets to Argentina compared to the same period in 2021. The average value of tickets is R$1,900.
