Argentina experienced an unprecedented heat wave in early March, according to the country’s National Meteorological Service (SMN).
On Monday (13), the SMN reported in a tweet that the average maximum temperatures of the first 10 days of the month rose between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius above normal in the center-east of the country.
March is the last month of summer in the southern hemisphere and when temperatures are expected to drop as the season begins to wind down.
The city of Buenos Aires has recorded maximum temperatures above 30°C every day since February 28.
Several locations across the country recorded their highest temperatures in 63 years during the month of March.

On Wednesday (15), the state news agency Télam reported that heavy rains are expected in the capital and province of Buenos Aires, with temperatures ranging between 27°C and 33°C, while the red alert for the region continues, according to the SMN.
