Argentina will waive Covid-19 test for entry of vaccinated Brazilian tourists

Starting next Saturday (29), Brazilians vaccinated against Covid-19 will not need to present a negative test (PCR or antigen rapid) to enter Argentina.

The new measure applies to people who have been in any of the neighboring countries (Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil and Uruguay) for at least 14 days.

The test requirement has been made by the Argentine government since November last year, when the movement of people between countries began to be made more flexible.

The traveler must present to the Argentine authorities a proof of vaccination showing a complete vaccination schedule (two doses or a single dose) for at least two weeks.

The person will not need to comply with quarantine or present a negative test for the coronavirus, however, they must prove that they have health insurance that covers hospitalization, isolation and medical transport services in cases of Covid-19.

Minors who do not have a complete vaccination will not need to comply with the quarantine, but the Argentine authorities recommend that the person avoids group activities for the first seven days after arriving in the country.

However, people in this group must carry out, up to 72 hours before travel, the test to prove that they are not infected. The cost of taking the exam is borne by the traveller.

Children under six years of age are exempt both from presenting a negative test and from complying with the quarantine.

Finally, those not vaccinated against Covid-19 must comply with all the aforementioned requirements (negative test, quarantine and health insurance), in addition to presenting a medical certificate that demonstrates the exemption from the need to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

The document must have the approval of the health authority of the traveler’s country of origin, and consular certification of Argentina by the competent body.
