The Argentine Ministry of Security has added cryptocurrency crimes to the list of activities supervised by the police and obliged the country’s law enforcement agencies to ensure their control and prevention.

Argentina’s Ministry of Security Resolution 1330/2024 states that federal law enforcement agencies are required to develop and implement countermeasures to combat crimes of “unauthorized financial intermediation involving cryptoassets.”

The ministry argues that advances and advances in cryptocurrency technology have created fertile ground for various forms of cybercrime using digital assets.

To prevent and early detect crimes using cryptoassets, the Argentine police will be required to “patrol” cyberspace on an ongoing basis.

The main task of the virtual police patrol will be to prevent various criminal acts and administrative violations, for example, proposals to invest in suspicious crypto-platforms or the spread of fake digital assets.

Earlier, Argentine police detained Instagram influencer Candela Salazar and her partner Nicolas Gionco on suspicion of cryptocurrency fraud and defrauding investors.
