Argentinean Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) mixed martial artist known as El Ninja will be paid in USDC stablecoins.
Guido Cannetti has become a partner of the American company Bitwage, which is engaged in the transfer of wages in cryptocurrencies. The athlete will receive rewards for their work in USDC stablecoins through the Stellar Network to the Vibrant wallet. This application was developed by the Stellar team specifically for Argentines who want to access stablecoins pegged to the US dollar.
“I will receive all my salary in USDC because it is much safer than keeping money in Argentine pesos, which depreciate quickly. In addition, the use of stablecoins will provide low-cost transactions and instant payments,” the athlete said.
Due to rising inflation, the purchasing power of Argentines is reduced, so they are looking for ways to save. In August, Maximiliano Hinz, CEO of Binance Latin America, announced that Argentines are one of the leaders in terms of the number of registrations on the platform.
Recently it became known that the Argentine football club São Paulo used USDC to pay for the transfer of a player from another local club, using the Mexican cryptocurrency exchange Bitso for this.
