Arm’s share of the GPU market for smartphones and tablets declines

Arm's share of the GPU market for smartphones and tablets declines

Arm, Qualcomm, Apple, Imagination Technologies and Intel are among the top five suppliers of GPUs for smartphones and tablets in 2020. Arm’s share peaked in 2016 and has been steadily declining since then.

Trade sanctions against HiSilicon, Arm’s key licensee, and competitive pressure from Apple and Imagination have impacted Arm’s Mali-branded GPU shipments, dropping their market share to 39% in 2020. Another Arm licensee, Samsung LSI, will introduce Exynos SoCs with AMD GPUs this year, which analysts say will further reduce Arm’s share.
