The Army opened an investigation to investigate a failure to launch a standard rocket, in Formosa (GO), this Wednesday, which ended up falling on a soybean plantation, outside the training camp. The device, of reduced range and low explosive charge, presented a technical problem that led to the deviation of the route. The episode scared residents of the region due to the proximity of the place to a fuel shed.
The investigation must last 30 days. The incident soon reverberated among politicians. Deputy José Nelto (PP-GO) said he will invite Defense Minister Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, Army Commander General Freire Gomes and other representatives of the Armed Forces.
“It’s an army missile and not Putin’s,” the parliamentarian told CNN . “She fell into a soy and corn plantation, near a fuel shed. It’s close to town. This had never happened. Army will have to come to Congress to give all the explanations”, said the federal deputy.
The Army denies that it has started launching rockets at the site, which is likely to happen in the future.
The Army Artillery Command is in Formosa. The place is used for training by land, air and with equipment used by the Armed Forces.
