An accident involving an Argentine Army truck killed at least four soldiers and left 18 others injured near San Martín de los Andes, in the west of the country, this Thursday (21), reported to CNN the director of the municipality’s Civil Defense, Sebastián Torcivia.
Nine people with serious injuries were transferred to Ramón Carrillo Hospital. The other nine, with milder injuries, were taken to Clínica Chapelco, authorities said.
The truck, which belonged to the 4th Mountain Cavalry Regiment, overturned and fell into a cliff of about 15 meters on Provincial Route 62, on the way to Lake Lolog, said Télam, Argentina’s official news agency.
Authorities have not yet been able to detect the causes of the incident.
Ambulances from City Hall and Ramón Carrillo Hospital worked at the scene along with personnel from the Argentine Army, brigades from the National Park and the Neuquén Police Traffic Directorate.
