Army truck explodes after accident on the border with Guyana

A Brazilian Army truck overturned this Thursday afternoon (7), in Roraima. The accident happened on the BR-401 federal highway, which connects Boa Vista to Bonfim (RR), a city located on the border between Brazil and Guyana.

The vehicle, with capacity to transport five tons of materials, exploded after the accident that occurred at kilometer 71, in the rural area of ​​Bonfim.

Two soldiers were injured. In a statement, the first Jungle Infantry Brigade reported that they were in the truck, which was only carrying maintenance materials to the municipality bordering the neighboring country.

The victims were taken to the Boa Vista Garrison Medical Station, but are doing well. The Army also reported that the cause of the accident will be investigated.

The Roraima Fire Department said it was called around 3pm yesterday to respond to the incident and immediately deployed a firefighting truck and a rescue and rescue team and operations commander to the location.
