The German authorities were alerted after the arrest of a Danish national, who is accused of espionage in favor of Iran, with Jewish targets in Berlin. According to a statement from the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, the man – tetted as Ali S., under German personal data law – allegedly attended three different sites in June, with the aim of gathering information and identifying possible goals for future attacks. As Reuters reports, prosecutors estimate that the suspect received instructions from the Iranian intelligence services in early 2025. According to information from Der Spiegel magazine, Ali S. allegedly photographed venues of Jewish interest, including the offices of the Germanic company. His arrest was made in Denmark, where he is expected to be published in Germany by July 23.
