Arrested influencer claims he admitted guilt to protect friend

Transsexual Influencer Samara Mapoua spoke out for the first time on social media, this Saturday (30), after being arrested for illegal possession of a restricted firearm.

With more than 1.3 million followers on Instagram, she stated that she is fine and that she was arrested in an attempt to protect people who were with her when the police approached her, last Tuesday (26).

“I don't want and wouldn't want anyone to go through this, but I'm here because I made a decision to protect and defend whoever was with me, that whole scenario at 4 am was a lot of pressure, and the only option I found at the time was to declare that the the gun was mine so that everyone could get out of that situation”, said the influencer in a statement that was passed on by the legal advisor handling the case.

Mapoua, who has more than 5 million followers on TikTok, was with five friends in a car on Avenida Brasil, near Olaria, in the north of Rio, when she was approached by police officers. The gun, with the number scratched off, and ammunition were found in the vehicle. The car, pistol and six cell phones were seized.

To the police, the influencer confessed to owning the pistol and informed that she was carrying a gun out of fear, as she would be threatened.

“I don’t regret what I did and I will settle my accounts with the courts and when I gain my freedom I will clarify and tell you everything. I love all of you who are supporting me and know that I never did and would not do this out of spite, it was an accident!”, he concluded in the statement.
