Arrival of international flights grows by more than 7% in a month, points out Embratur

The number of international flight arrivals in Brazil grew by more than 7% in June 2022, compared to the previous month, according to data released this Thursday (21) by the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of International Tourism (Embratur).

In June this year, more than 3,800 flights from abroad landed on Brazilian soil.

Compared to April 2020, there was a 1700% increase in international flight arrivals.

Despite the good result, the international air sector in Brazil has not yet fully recovered the number of flights from before the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2019, before the health crisis, the capacity of the monthly air network was 24% higher.

The domestic network in Brazil is practically recovered.

Data from the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear) show that the volume of domestic flights, in June, represents 90% of the fleet that flew in 2019, before the pandemic.

Currently, the daily average of domestic flights is 2,150.

Expectation of growth in the international air network

Embratur’s expectation is that the international air network in Brazil will continue to grow until the beginning of 2023, already boosted by July this year, which represents a period of high season.

The Agency also foresees 84 new flights and 47 additional frequencies (number of routes) by February next year.

From January to June 2022, another 84 flights have already started operating and 36 frequencies have been added.

” In the month of June, we continued in a period of low season for tourists, but even so, the offer of flights and seats increased. The other good news is that, in July, the month when we traditionally see an increase in traffic, even more international flights will operate to Brazil”, celebrates Embratur president Silvio Nascimento”, celebrates Embratur president Silvio Nascimento.
