The co-founder of the BitMEX crypto exchange said that it will be extremely difficult for any blockchain using smart contracts to surpass Ethereum, since this network leads in the number of applications and developers involved in the ecosystem.

Arthur Hayes called Ethereum the most innovative blockchain in a recent interview. According to Hayes, other networks often copy the innovations that were originally introduced in Ethereum, which is why no other blockchain can surpass it.

The former BitMEX CEO mentioned the Solana network, praising its user interface and active community. However, Solana coin lags significantly behind Ether in terms of market capitalization. This figure for SOL is $67 billion, and for ETH it is $294.5 billion, Hayes noted. And he explained: for any blockchain to overtake Ethereum, developers must present a new and original technology outside the Ethereum network.

“It seems like Ethereum will never stop. The emergence of second-level solutions has reduced transaction costs and accelerated transactions on the network. This increases the competitiveness of Ethereum and gives it advantages over other networks. The king of altcoins will maintain its leading position,” Hayes said.

Previously, Arthur Hayes criticized spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) linked to ether. The former businessman is confident that the presence of institutional investors could have a negative impact on the cryptocurrency market. Last year, Hayes urged investors to sell the SOL cryptocurrency and buy more ether.
