Artificial intelligence ChatGPT is already being used to write viruses: and very successfully

The launch of the chat bot ChatGPT, which works on the basis of the so-called artificial intelligence, has excited the entire Internet – the search giants are afraid that the development will destroy their business, and students and schoolchildren can easily receive ready-made abstracts and essays with an absolute uniqueness of the text. But ChatGPT, as it turned out, copes well not only with writing technical texts, poems and recipes, but also with code. Cybersecurity specialists from Check Point Research said the chatbot is capable of writing malware on its own for surveillance, identity theft, and more.

Employees of the company said that if you set the task for artificial intelligence to write malicious code for a specific task, then ChatGPT will write it in the best possible way. Moreover, in the vastness of hacker forums there are already many publications in which users indicate that they have no experience in programming or know only the basics, but with the help of ChatGPT they manage to write quite working malicious Python scripts for phishing via emails. And if the user still has the necessary knowledge, then he can modify the code from the chat bot into a ransomware program that will encrypt all files on the user’s computer.

Cybersecurity experts also noted that ChatGPT can write a Python script that will search for a specific type of file (for example, PDF or DOCX) on an infected computer, after which it will archive the found data and send it to the attacker’s server. And this is only a part of the capabilities of a chatbot – with certain skills, you can create the most complex malicious code to hack online stores, cryptocurrency exchanges, inject into databases, and more. It’s scary to imagine what kind of viruses ChatGPT will be able to create after a year or two of active training and experimentation.
