Artists and political personalities mourn the death of Rolando Boldrin

The death of actor, singer, songwriter and presenter Rolando Boldrin this Wednesday (9), at the age of 86, took fans, friends, family and admirers by surprise. TV Cultura, where he presented “Mr. Brasil” reported the death through the official profile of the broadcaster on social networks.

Artists and personalities from other fields, such as politics, spoke about the loss of the artist.

“Today we also lost the giant Rolando Boldrin, a giant at the service of Brazilian culture, thank you a million times master. May the earth be light for you”, said Emicida, also remembering the death of singer Gal Costa, at age 77, also this Wednesday, in São Paulo.

Marcelo Tas, presenter of Provoca, also on TV Cultura, also recalled the friendship between him and Boldrin.

“My friend, ‘cumpadi caipira’ from TV Cultura is gone, an extraordinary story teller, sweet figure and generous and brave soul of Brazilian art. Long live Rolando Boldrin,” Tas wrote on his Twitter account.

President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) also used Twitter to express the loss of the artist.

“Sad day for Brazilian music. Brazil loses Rolando Boldrin, singer and songwriter responsible for introducing generations of Brazilians to our musical diversity, on programs like Som Brasil. My condolences to family and friends.”

The artist’s death also mobilized politicians from several Brazilian parties to manifest themselves on social networks, such as Ciro Gomes, a former candidate for the Presidency of the Republic by the PDT.

“Sad day for Brazilian music. Rolando Boldrin sang popular culture, moda de viola. My condolences to family, friends and fans.”

Rubens Nunes, councilor of São Paulo for the MBL, also spoke about the artist.

“My condolences to the family and friends. Boldrin is an icon that revolutionized Brazilian culture, he will never be forgotten,” he said.

The federal deputy for São Paulo, Alexandre Frota, also used the network to mourn Boldrin’s departure.

The national president of Cidadania, Roberto Freire, said on his Twitter profile that Brazilian culture loses with Boldrin’s death.

Federal deputy Aliel Machado (PV-PR) also stated that the fourth is doubly sad for the loss of Gal Costa and Boldrin.

“As soon as the chip of Gal’s loss hit, we have the sad news of the departure of another giant of Brazilian culture, Rolando Boldrin. He liked to accompany ‘Mr. Brasil’ for his ability to connect with the Brazilian people with simplicity and charisma”, said the parliamentarian on a social network.
