As a technology company, not just a bank, Inter needed to be on Nasdaq, says João Vitor Menin

Inter started this Thursday (23) to trade shares on Nasdaq, a technology exchange in New York, in the United States. In an interview with CNN, the institution’s CEO, João Vitor Menin, spoke of the importance of this movement, which marks the consolidation of Inter as a technology company, and coincides with its expansion plans.

“Although we are a bank, we are a technology platform, which aligns banking and non-banking services, so it is only natural that when we came to the US, we chose Nasdaq to list our shares,” said Menin.

The businessman also points out that the debut coincides with the company’s expansion plans, which recently started to allow customers to have an account in foreign currency, which will soon be able to be used also by residents of the United States.

“(The debut on Nasdaq) puts the inter on another level and coincides with the moment we are expanding our operations. We have our Global Account, a product that we launched to reach, in addition to Brazilians, people from all over the world, starting with the USA”.

This Thursday’s ceremony consolidates Inter as a technology company, which bets on the concept of “super application”, a tool that, in addition to financial services, also allows customers to make national and international investments, remittances, insurance and marketplace.

“We have a globalized world where people travel and do business can have the Inter super app in the palm of their hand, have their account in dollars, make exchange transactions, remit money, debit card, invest in the stock market”, he said. .

The launch is also an opportunity for the bank to have more international visibility, according to the executive. “As we arrived in the US, we began to attract other investors. We are already beginning to notice many funds, such as Americans and Europeans, that were already following us, but did not invest because we were only in Brazil. Now, listed on Nasdaq, they are taking the moment to position themselves,” he said.

With the debut, the assets BIDI3, BIDI4 and BIDI11, which had been traded on B3 since the institution’s IPO in 2018, are migrated to Inter&Co on the American stock exchange, with the code INTR.

Today with more than 20 million customers, Inter has been in the market since the 1990s, but launched the first 100% digital account in 2015.

Founder and chairman of the board of MRV Engenharia, businessman Rubens Menin is also the controller of Inter, Log Commercial Properties and CNN Brazil .
