Today, in 1992, the mayor of Los Angeles declares the city in an emergency, as the bloody riots that broke out after the acquittal of four white police officers for Rodney King’s wild beating are uncontrollable. The case had shocked the United States: the 26 -year -old African -American, after being pursued by the police for excessive speed, was brutally beaten by four police officers, while at least fifteen others were watching. The incident was recorded in a video by a passerby and aired everywhere, causing tremendous rage. When, despite the inconclusive evidence, the police were acquitted by the court, Los Angeles is burning. Angry crowds take to the streets, clash with police, plunder thousands and set fire to hundreds of buildings.
