ASI certifies the Metallurgy Department of MYTILINEOS

MYTILINEOS through the Metallurgy Sector, was certified with the Performance Standard of the ASI Initiative for all its activities in the aluminum production chain, such as bauxite mining, alumina production, aluminum production and casting of aluminum products.

The Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) is a global, multi-stakeholder, non-profit standardization and certification body that has developed an independent certification program to ensure that the principles of Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Governance and Human Rights are increasingly integrated into the production, use and recycling of aluminum.

ASI announced that MYTILINEOS has been successfully certified with the ASI performance standard for the responsible production, supply and management of aluminum with scope:

– bauxite mining activities at the Delphi-Distomo facility;
– the activities of production of alumina, production of liquid aluminum and casting of aluminum products in the factory Aluminum of Greece
port facilities at the Aluminum Plant in Greece; and
the registered office of the Company in Athens.

The ASI Certification Program has been developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability model initiative for the aluminum value chain. The ASI Performance Standard sets out principles and criteria related to the environment, society and governance, with the aim of addressing sustainability issues in the aluminum value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three pillars of sustainability of the Government, the Environment and Society that address key issues such as biodiversity, human rights and greenhouse gas emissions.
