The best bar in Asia is Leone Bar in Hong Kong . This is what the Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024 which released the current selection of the 50 best bars on the continent this Tuesday (16). The ranking is a regional arm of the prestigious award The World’s 50 Best Bars .
Located in Hong Kong’s Central District, the bar is led by Lorenzo Antinori originally from Rome, Italy. Opened in May 2023, Leone is the mixologist’s first business, having previously worked in bars in London and Seoul, South Korea.
The bar works with classic cocktails and honors Antinori’s homeland, with old football shirts and photos of icons from the country of the boot hanging in the hall.
One of the house specialties is the Leone Martini martini served straight from a bottle straight from the freezer into a chilled glass and presented on a custom wooden tray. It features Italian gin, marsala, a touch of orange blossom water and is garnished with an almond-stuffed olive.
Second on the list is Zest in Seoul, which places sustainable practices and a “zero waste” policy at the heart of its operations. This year it is also considered the Best Bar in South Korea.
Closing the podium appears the Jigger & Pony from Singapore, which focuses on classic cocktails and is already considered one of the most famous bars in the city-state.

Parallel awards

The official Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024 celebration took place at the Rosewood Hong Kong hotel in Hong Kong and handed out a few awards to some of the industry’s leading names. The Industry Icon award was given to Yangdup Lama in front of some bars in India, such as Sidecar, in New Delhi.
The Best Cocktail Menu was delivered to the bar Nest by Pun in Taipei, which promises a multi-sensory experience. The Hospitality award went to the bar Virtue located inside the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi, a hotel that has just received three Michelin Guide keys.
The bar chosen as the Best Design was Atlas in Singapore, which features leather furniture and gold accents in an opulent, high-ceilinged atmosphere. The bar has even received the honor of “legend” on the list. Also in Singapore, the bar Drill received the Sustainability of the Year award.
The Best Opening went to The Savory Project in Hong Kong’s Soho district, which focuses on salty, earthy and umami flavors. The Best Bartender award, voted by fellow bartenders, went to Dohyung ‘Demie’ Kim co-founder of Zest, a bar in second place on this year’s list. Finally, the Dry Wave Cocktail Studio from Bangkok, Thailand, won the “One to Watch” award, which reveals a house on the rise and that has the potential to enter the list in the coming years.
Voting for the best bar in Asia
The list is based on votes from the Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy, which features 265 drinks experts, including bartenders and educators, drinks writers and cocktail experts from across the region.
Members can vote for a total of seven bars, including up to five from their home country. They must have visited the bars they nominated in the previous 18 months and cannot vote for bars they own or have a financial interest in.
