Assault on shopping center in Sorocaba (SP) ends without injuries, second mayor

A robbery this Saturday (13) in one of the operations of the Shopping Center Iguatemi Esplanada, in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, ended up with no dead, hostages or injuries. The information was given by the mayor of the city, Rodrigo Manga (Republicans) in a video posted on their social networks.

“The police did a wonderful job,” said the mayor. He also said that the city’s security forces were carrying out sweeps of the site in search of possible suspects.

In a statement, the mall informed that the police was “immediately activated and the project continues to collaborate with the competent authorities”. The mall’s activities were terminated after the occurrence.

According to information from the military police, calls related to the case began at 8:39 pm. The call was for both the robbery and firearm fire at the scene. Criminals allegedly invaded the mall, robbed a jewelry store and then fled the scene.

Employees at one of the mall’s stores said they were trapped in the store’s stock by police orders along with three other customers, with closed doors and no power.
