AstraZeneca says smaller dose achieves 90% effectiveness

AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford say their COVID-19 vaccine has a 70.4% average efficiency after recording 131 cases of coronavirus in his trial. A single dose regimen has shown a level higher than 90% based on interim results.

The most effective dosage regimen uses half dose in the first inoculation instead of a full one. That means more people could be vaccinated with the same amount of material.. The 90% efficient regimen is 1.5 doses instead of two.

From the statement:

A one-dose regimen (n = 2,741) showed 90% vaccine efficacy when AZD1222 was given as a half dose, followed by a full dose at least one month apart

Interestingly, we have found that one of our dosing regimens can be around 90% effective and if this dosing regimen is used, more people could be vaccinated with the planned vaccine supply.

AstraZeneca immunization can be stored at normal cooling temperatures. The company is ready to prepare imminently for the emergency regulatory filing. Moderna announced an efficiency of 94.5% and the Pfizer / BioNTech project of 95%.

Matt Hancock, UK Health Minister, has said the vaccine is easier to administer and that Britain has 100 million doses in the pipeline. The EU also has a substantial amount of doses for its member states.

The pair GBP / USD stood out for responding positively to immunization news. The currency pair is trading at two-month highs, above the 1.33 level. EUR / USD is also moving higher, trading closer to 1.19.
