The delivery of the vaccines donated by Greece was announced by the Minister of Health of Northern Macedonia, Venko Filipce.

“Today, 100,000 doses have arrived AstraZeneca vaccines, donated by our neighboring country, Greece. The donation is made on the personal initiative of the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, which was promised to our Prime Minister, Zoran Zaef. Good neighborly relations and support are reaffirmed, which are especially important in times of pandemic. We thank the Greek people, the government of the Hellenic Republic and the Ambassador of Greece to our country, Rousso Koundouros, with whom we received the vaccines today. They will be distributed immediately to vaccination centers and are intended for people over 60, according to the vaccination strategy. “Vaccination is accelerating and from Monday all citizens will be able to be vaccinated without an appointment,” Filipce said in a post on social media, as broadcast by the Athens News Agency.

It is the second vaccination donation of Greece to Northern Macedonia. On June 15, Greece had shipped 20,000 AstraZeneca vaccines.

Apart from Greece, Northern Macedonia has received vaccine donations from other countries, such as Serbia, which previously donated about 50,000 vaccines, and Turkey, which sent 30,000 vaccines to Skopje.
