Astronaut Loral O'Hara returns from the Space Station after 204 days

The NASA astronaut, Loral O'Hara returned to Earth this Saturday (06), after six months of research aboard the Space Station. Beside her was the cosmonaut of Roscosmos, the Russian Oleg Novitsky and the space flight participant Marina Vasilevskaya from Belarus.

The trio, who departed the Space Station aboard the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft this Friday (05), made a safe landing with an assisted parachute on the steppe of Kazakhstan southeast of the city of Dzhezkazgan, this Saturday (06), at 4:17 am, Brasília time.

Coverage of the arrival of the tribulation on earth was broadcast through NASA+, of NASA app , on Youtube and in space agency website. You can check the moment of landing here:

The astronaut was launched into space on September 15, 2023 and completed a mission of 204 days in space , covering 3,264 Earth orbits and 86.5 million miles. She continued her journey alongside Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub, who will remain aboard the Space Station to complete a year-long mission.

Novitskiy and Vasilevskaya were launched with the astronaut Tracy C. Dyson to the station aboard the Soyuz MS-25 spacecraft on March 23. The cosmonaut logged a total of 545 days in space across four space flights and the Belarusian spent 14 days in space as part of her first space flight.

In turn, Dyson will remain aboard the station for a six-month research mission.

Supporting NASA's Artemis campaign, O'Hara's mission helped prepare for exploration of the Moon and lay the groundwork for crewed missions to Mars. She worked on scientific activities aboard the Space Station, including investigating heart health, cancer treatments and space manufacturing techniques during her stay aboard the orbiting laboratory.

Following post-landing medical checks, the crew will return to the recovery town in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. After that, O'Hara will board a NASA plane bound for his return to the Johnson Space Center, in Houston, in the United States.
