Asus: Nvidia GPU shortage drops graphics card shipments by a quarter

Nvidia prefers not to comment on the shortage of video cards, and if it does, it is very peculiar. So, for example, the CFO of the company Colette Kress (Colette Kress) in early March announced that in the first quarter of this year, sales of Nvidia video cards increased by 40%. It seems that there are efforts made by the “green” to eliminate the deficit, but in reality, this is not the case at all, since the key partners of the company are complaining about the lack of GPUs.

Asus: Nvidia GPU shortage drops graphics card shipments by a quarter

Asus is one of those. According to the source, a company spokesman at a meeting with investors said that the release of Nvidia GPUs is lower than expected, and therefore the deficit will not go anywhere. Due to a decrease in shipments of “green” GPUs, shipments of Asus graphics cards in the first quarter fell by a quarter – and this is compared to the fourth quarter of last year, during which the deficit has already begun to gain momentum. Asus top manager “Reluctantly said that for the time being he can only wait for Nvidia to take action.”.

What measures and when will be taken is unclear. Obviously, the deficit is associated not only with the frantic demand for video cards from miners, but also with the insufficient production of the Ampere GPU at Samsung’s facilities. Now one can only imagine if there would be a shortage if the production of GeForce RTX 30 GPUs were entrusted to TSMC, but Samsung is clearly having problems with the release of suitable GPUs. The problem is exacerbated by a general shortage of components (not just chips) in the industry.
