ASUS has unveiled the new S-series of smartphones for gamers, the Asus ROG Phone, which replaces the original lineup released in April this year. It includes two models ASUS ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro, which received a Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset and a record input delay of just 24 ms. This time there is no Ultimate version, but the Pro version has received all its key advantages. What’s more, ROG Phone 5s Pro has a color PMOLED display on the back (instead of monochrome in ROG Phone 5 Ultimate), as well as two touch sensors that can be used as game controls.
Externally, both smartphones have not undergone significant changes. As before, the ROG Phone 5s has the RGB backlit Republic of Gamers logo and AirTrigger 5 ultrasonic shoulder buttons on the back of the ROG Phone 5s. The ROG Phone 5s Pro is fully charged with 18GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.
The basic version has three configurations: 8/128 GB, 12/256 GB and 16/256 GB. None of the models have a microSD slot, but they all support external USB drives in NTFS format.
The display in smartphones has not changed either, it has exactly the same characteristics as its predecessors, except for the frequency of the touch layer (360 Hz instead of 300 Hz) and input lag, which is now 0.3 ms less. The 6000mAh battery supports 65W wired charging. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom that closes when gripped horizontally, but the headset can be plugged in via the AeroActive Cooler 5, which adds two extra buttons to boot. It comes bundled with the Pro version, while for the base one you have to buy it separately for $ 70.
In terms of accessories, the new smartphones are compatible with all optional accessories released for the 5 Series, and even some for the ROG Phone 3.
