Asus Zenfone 8 is the company’s first smartphone with IP68

It has long been known that the Asus Zenfone 8 series will go on sale on May 12, with the new smartphones offering excellent performance and being available in a variety of sizes. The company today announced on its Twitter page that the new phones will also be IP68 rated, meaning they will be dust and water resistant.

According to the source, Asus has been in the phone business since 2005 and has been making smartphones since 2012. However, none of the devices have had any official certification for protection against ingress of water or dust.

Earlier, the manufacturer officially confirmed that the 3.5 mm audio jack is returning in the Asus Zenfone 8 series. The jack will be located on the top of the smartphone. In addition to the audio jack, the Zenfone 8 will also have a front-facing camera embedded in the screen in the upper left corner. This indicates that the new line-up has ditched the pivoting camera design that was implemented in the previous two series.

The smartphones are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC and offer 1080p OLED displays with support for high refresh rates. The smallest model will be the Zenfone 8 mini, which will receive a 5.92-inch screen, a 4000 mAh battery and support for 30W fast charging.
