Asymptomatic patients also need medical follow-up, says cardiologist

After being diagnosed with Covid-19, many people have symptoms related to the heart and lungs. However, what was not expected is that the pain continued after months. Roberto Kalil, cardiologist and presenter of CNN, states that even after months of the disease, it is possible to develop heart problems. “Therefore, both symptomatic and asymptomatic people need medical follow-up”;

The specialist points out that even after three months, it is still possible to have a heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrhythmia or even a pulmonary embolism. Kalil cites studies that show that approximately 50% of infected people will have some kind of sequel.

Problems such as anxiety and depression, in addition to other impacts on cognition, can also appear in the ‘post-covid’.

Kalil says that since the first cases of Covid-19 there are already symptoms developed in the long term. “And so our only weapon against these problems is the vaccine.”

“Brazilians have a culture of vaccination, and we must continue”.
