At 19:00 Mitsotaki announces the prices of electricity

Today at 19:00, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will announce the government package on the issue of electricity prices.

The specialization of the measures will take place tomorrow, Friday, at 8.30, by the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikoura, the Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrekas, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Theodoros Skylakakis, the Secretary General of Fiscal Policy, Thanos Petralias and Thanos Petralias , Alexandra Sdoukou. The presentation will be moderated by Deputy Government Spokeswoman Aristotle Peloni.

The framework of the shielding package “locked” late yesterday afternoon after the successive meetings of the last days at the Maximos Palace, under the Prime Minister, which were attended by the political leadership of the Ministry of Energy and close associates of Mr. Mitsotakis.

“After many meetings, the final proposals for the interventions in the issue of the price of electricity have been formulated”, was the message conveyed, after the completion of another meeting, by government sources, with the prime minister’s announcements aimed at reducing the suffocating pressure on citizens due to the λι rally of energy prices.

“The regulatory package will largely address the issue of increases, but with no expectation of a return to the pre-crisis period of 2020, when energy prices have skyrocketed in the last year. The government is running out of all budget support,” he said. executives note, with the information talking about an intervention cost, which is expected to reach 2.5 billion euros and will have a horizon by the end of the year.

At the same time, the scenario remains open for the measures to be extended for the next year, as soon as it is deemed necessary, with the factor that will judge the time limit of the equation being related, as expected, to the intensity, but also the duration of the crisis on the energy front.

Always according to the same information:

– The government plan, as it will be announced today by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will be realistic and horizontal.

– There will be coverage of all consumers, without income criteria.

– There will be expanded aid, to cover households with more than 300 kilowatt hours, which to date receive bills of 200 or 250 euros per month.

– There will be support for all companies, while special emphasis will be given to small and medium enterprises.

Among the scenarios under consideration is the facilitation of the most vulnerable households, in order to be able to pay their bills in several installments, with government officials constantly reminding the phrase of the continuous support of society, for as long as the energy crisis.
