At 4.8% of GDP, Poland’s defense budget will increase in 2026

Poland will increase its defensive budget for 2026 to 4.8% of GDP, the finance minister announced today, presenting the next year’s budget plan. Poland, adjacent to Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, has been increasing its defense budget for many years to 4.7% of its GDP this year. The preliminary draft budget of 2026 is projected to spend on the defense “the 200 billion Zloti record”, or 46.87 billion euros, said Minister Andrei Domanski. Fearing the Russian threat, Warsaw has for many years launched the modernization of its armed forces, concluding gun contracts, billions of Zlotti, mainly with the US and South Korea.
