Stanford University recognized the doctor Angelita Habr-Gama as one of the professionals who most contributed to the development of science. The 89-year-old Brazilian surgeon, 70 of them dedicated to medicine, is on the list, updated at the end of last year, which includes the 2% of the most influential scientists in the world.
The doctor wasfirst woman to do a residency at Hospital das ClÃnicas de São Paulo and created the discipline of coloproctology at the institution. Angelita was also the first to head the surgery department at the USP School of Medicine and currently works at Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz.
Angelita has developed studies that have changed the shape and revolutionized the treatment of rectal cancer around the world. The doctor spoke with Carol Nogueira in this episode of E Tem Mais and talked about the recognition of the American university, the satisfaction she feels in continuing to work and also being an inspiration to the new generations.
